Cabinet goes on leave

Cabinet went on leave on Monday following adjournment of Parliament last Friday, government spokesman, Dr Jeff Ramsay said yesterday.

 It is customary for ministers to go on leave a week after Parliament adjourns but Ramsay said that they are on call and can be summoned to attend emergency meetings. The only difference, he said is that ministers do not attend the weekly cabinet meetings, which are normally held on Wednesdays.

A minister, who preferred not to be mentioned by name, said that though cabinet is on leave, a majority of ministers are still reporting for duty because of the ongoing public service strike.
