BURS nabs DIS agent

A showdown between the Botswana Unified Revenue Services (BURS) and the Directorate of Intelligence Services (DIS) seems inevitable following reports that an operative of the latter was arrested trying to hide his financial records.

The Botswana Guardian reported last Friday that agents of the Directorate on Corruption and Economic Crime (DCEC) arrested a DIS operative on suspicions of embezzling public funds. Now the taxman wants to sniff around the spy's books.

A source at BURS has revealed that the organisation wanted to audit the suspect's lifestyle to establish whether it was within his means and take the necessary steps. The Director General of the DIS, Colonel Isaac Kgosi has denied the report.
