Burglaries go up

SEROWE: Police have expressed alarm at the rising incidents of burglary and theft in the village. Superintendent Victor Nlebesi said that between Monday and Sunday last week, police recorded 20 cases of burglary and theft most of them committed in Sebina Ward.

He said that during the same period, they recorded four cases of burglary and theft (during the day).  "It is surprising that in these cases the perpetrators stole things like fridges, stoves, linen and chairs.  We wonder why people would not report any suspicious persons removing such big goods," he said.  In a separate incident, police arrested three men who robbed a 35-year-old man at Rakgomo ward of his cellphone, shoes, and money.  The man identified the assailants to the police who arrested them immediately.
