Brothers square up in court

TONOTA: Sibling rivalry took a different twist on Monday as brothers squared up in court over an emotive case of stock theft at the Tonota police station.

The Monday court session was convened at the Tonota police station at the behest of Francistown's acting chief magistrate Lorraine Makati-Lesang, in order to be close to the exhibits, goats and sheep, which had been en-kraaled at the station. In the dock, which slowly turned into a pressure cooker, were look-alike brothers Baatshwana Madala Fani and Kitso Fani, their stepbrother Daniel Peter and a friend, Christopher "Nchi" Dihutso.

The quartet are facing charges of stealing goats and sheep for sale to a middleman who in turn sold them to butcheries.
