Farming magnate, Derek Brink has moved towards tussling with poultry giant, Satar Dada in the lucrative hatchery and broiler-growing sector.

This follows the Competition Authority's (CA) decision to permit Brink's Bokomo Botswana to buy into Cottesloe Consultants, otherwise known as Irvine's Botswana. Bokomo had appealed to the authority to allow the company to acquire a 50 percent stake in Cottesloe.

The move now gives Brink a strategic foothold in the sector which has been dominated by Dada.Brink's interests in the industry have been located at the processing and cold storage sectors while Dada dominated the broiler and hatchery market. The CA found that upon acquiring Cottesloe, Brink would still trail Dada.
