Breathless Burglar Suspect Prays For Bail

An asthmatic burglar suspect has pleaded with the court to grant him bail on credit because he cannot afford to pay any amount the court decides.

The second accused person in a shop breaking and theft case, Mochacha Keogile appearing before the Village Magistrate court said the credit or cash bail would be detrimental to his health as he depends on his family to purchase medication. "I plead with this honourable court to spare me cash bail because I am unemployed and I depend on my family to buy me asthma medication," Keogile pleaded. However, the presiding magistrate, Ephraith Ndegwa told the accused that the court would have to exercise its discretion when granting bail.

Ndegwa granted the accused persons conditional bail under which the accused persons have to deposit P500.00 each and two sureties who will also deposit P500.00 cash bond with the court clerk.
