Breast cancer curable if detected early

The message of the Breast Cancer Awareness Month, which ended with October, is still loud and clear: early detection can save the lives of many women.

An oncologist based at the Gaborone Private Hospital (GPH), Dr Joseph Kasese, says the potential to cure breast cancer rises with early detection.

"If detected early, breast cancer is highly curable," Dr Kasese says. Symptoms of breast cancer include a painless breast lump, a nipple pulled inside or a nipple discharge, skin discolouration, different-sized breasts, swelling of the glands under the armpit and breast ulceration.
