BPSWU condemns dismissal of union leaders

SELEBI-PHIKWE: Botswana Postal Services Workers Union has strongly condemned the dismissal of the union's chairperson and deputy chairperson, Gagosepe Manyanda and Wiseman Maruping from work by BotswanaPost.

The two were dismissed on January 28 and March 14, 2011 respectively. BPSWU claims that their chairman was dismissed for her response to the statements that a board member Tsetsele Fantan made in a weekly brief.

Fantan is said to have stated that, "Quite a few retirements which give us an opportunity to review the need to fill certain positions in an effort to do more with less or to bring in new blood to help in the journey to excellence. Let every vacancy be reviewed seriously before it is just filled."
