BPP wants BAM to pay up

FRANCISTOWN: There is no love lost between the former opposition political darlings, Botswana Alliance Movement (BAM) and Botswana Peoples Party (BPP). The BPP is contemplating taking BAM to court for its failure to service its debt.

Yesterday, BPP legal secretary, Tolani Poiso said that BAM owes them legal costs in the region of over P9, 000. Poiso confessed that his party has communicated its concern to BAM secretary general, Matlhomola Modise in September. "They are stubborn and failed to comply with the court order. This is a court ruling and already they are in contempt of court," the angry Poiso said.

He revealed that the BPP central committee would meet soon to determine the way forward. "We will decide if we will go back to court or not". Efforts to reach Modise at the time of going to press were futile. His mobile phone was continuously off air.
BAM treasurer, Moseki Matlhodi said he was not in a position to answer enquiries.
The relationship between the two political parties soured after the 1999 general election, which they had contested together as one organization.
