BPP undaunted, declares Balikani

FRANCISTOWN: Botswana Peoples Party (BPP) president, Bernard Balikani says that the party's 2007 resolution not to cooperate with other opposition parties for the 2009 general election will not return to haunt the party.

Although the country's oldest party's fortunes have been dwindling over the years, literally reducing the once powerful BPP to a struggling regional organisation based in the North East, it has avoided opposition co-operation to rescue it from its political doldrums.

"Our November 2007 resolution taken at the extra-ordinary conference to stay away from opposition co-operation until the 2009 general election will never haunt us. It was a resolution taken based on principle," declared Balikani yesterday.
