FRANCISTOWN: Botswana Peoples Party (BPP) leader and parliamentary hopeful for Francistown South, Bernard Balikani has dismissed what he described as baseless and unfounded perceptions that his party might be headed for collapse.

Speaking at the launch of parliamentary and council candidates for Francistown South and East constituencies in Block One Location on Saturday, Balikani stated that his party's decision not to nominate a presidential candidate is not a mistake. He explained that it is a strategy to only target parliamentary and council seats in next month's general elections.

He said it was unfair for people to judge his party by the mere fact that it has not nominated a presidential candidate. He castigated the media saying it gave his party negative publicity by reporting that it is dying.
