"My decision to leave the BPF was based on my personal experience within the party, and it is not a reflection of any ill will towards Ian Khama.
I have the utmost respect for him, and I believe that our relationship remains positive despite my departure," said Butale. Speaking at the media briefing, he expressed his dissatisfaction with the treatment he received while with the BPF, citing it as the primary reason for him to leave the party. In his own words, Butale expressed his sentiments regarding his departure from BPF.
"My stay at BPF was an unpleasant one, and I felt that it was time for me to move on and establish my own political party," Butale stated. When speaking to MmegiOnline, the BPF spokesperson, Lawrence Ookeditse refuted these claims, stating that there was never any ill-treatment between Butale and BPF. Ookeditse acknowledged that there was a strained relationship between Butale and the party upon his departure, citing disagreements on internal party matters. Ookeditse said these differences ultimately led to legal action being taken to resolve the issues.
The BPF spokesperson emphasised: "It is true that when Biggie left, there was no good relationship between him and BPF because him and the party couldn't agree on internal matters of the party as a result some differences had to be settled in court”. Butale founded a new political party named Botswana Republican Party (BRP) after his departure from the BPF.
He stated: "The BRP is my new final home for my entire political career. I am fully committed to this party and its vision for the future of our country”. Furthermore, Butale announced his candidacy for the position of Member of Parliament for Tati West in the upcoming general election.
