Boy Sues MoH Over Disputed HIV Test

A decision by officials at the Athlone Hospital in Lobatse to deny a nine-year-old boy a chance to repeat an HIV test has resulted in a P100,000 lawsuit against the Ministry of Health (MoH).

Botswana Network on Ethics, Law and HIV/AIDS (BONEELA) legal officer Uyapo Ndadi told Monitor on Friday that they were handling the case where the boy is suing for false diagnosis which occurred in November last year.

It is reported that the young boy, together with her mother, were admitted at the hospital after complaining of lower abdominal pains. Blood, urine and stool specimen were obtained for testing.
