BotswanaPost aims to "save less fortunate lives"

BotswanaPost launched its Corporate Social Responsibility Foundation at the Gaborone International Conventional Centre yesterday, achieving a milestone in committing to promoting the arts and educational activities, social issues and a culture of social giving.

The board chairman of BotswanaPost, Martin Makgatlhe, said the results of an assessment of organisation's opportunities weaknesses were depressing and had shown that BotswanaPost society results were nonexistent.

Following this, a framework to establish a foundation was developed to consolidate a CSR focus within the organisation. "I am happy to say the board approved the establishment of the Foundation in 2010 with Bernard Letsididi appointed as Founding Chairman," said Makgatlhe. BotswanaPost intends to put aside an annual budget for the implementation of its CSR programmes and a vigorous fundraising campaign will be taken to supplement the budget, identify opportunities and empower communities," he added.  As one of the oldest public service institutions in the world, Botswana included, the Post Office has been connecting communities as a centre of commerce and communications.
