Botswana to establish air-cargo hub

Botswana intends to establish a hub to cater for air cargo traffic in the southern African region. The Minister of Works and Transport, Lesego Motsumi said yesterday in Parliament the air-cargo hub is expected to exploit a window of opportunity that will open up once the proposed agro-commercial project in Pandamatenga takes off.

The Pandamatenga project will mainly comprise  perishables that will require managed cool-chain handling to international standards.

"This presents a distinct opportunity for becoming a specialised 'perishables hub' for the region by creating facilities to handle goods in an economical and efficient manner," the minister said.
