Botswana still interested in Inga 3 Hydro station

Botswana was, and is still particularly interested in development of Inga 3 Hydro power station site, which has a potential of generating 3,500 Megawatts at a total cost of about US$6 billion, and is a subject of an Inter Governmental Memorandum of Understanding between five cooperating countries.

The five are Angola, Botswana, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Namibia and Republic of South Africa.

The interest in developing Inga was strengthened after a World Energy Council (WEC) workshop on financing Inga hydro power projects which Minister of Minerals, Energy and Water Resources, Dr Ponatshego Kedikilwe attended in London,United Kingdom recently; and a subsequent SADC Energy Ministers' meeting in Kinshasa, DRC.
