Botswana Police pilots set to fly

Botswana police officers currently training as helicopter pilots in South Africa are reported to be making progress in their training.

The 10 cadets comprise two women and eight men and Deputy Commissioner of Police responsible for Support Services Ikwatlhaeng Bagopi and other high-ranking officers recently visited their training institutions. Constables Razor Lefadola and Joyce Dikosha impressed the officials, as they were able to fly solo. "The rest are expected to fly unaccompanied before end of this month except Constable Razor Leadplant who was already a pilot when he went for training," Assistant Superintendent Dipheko Motube of the Public Relations Unit said in a statement.

The first group of six trainees is expected to complete training by September next year while the second group of four should complete in 12 months' time. "Delays may be caused by weather conditions and unforeseen situations," the statement says.
