Botswana Parliament not perfect - Moupo

Botswana National Front (BNF) leader, Otsweletse Moupo suggests that the office of the leader of the opposition should be given resources and research assistants to enable independent research, to come up with an informed view when contributing to the budget speech or the president's state of the nation address.

Moupo gave a lecture on the role of the leader of the opposition, parliamentary committees and whip in a liberal democracy at an event hosted by the University of Botswana Political Science Society.

He said in Mozambique the office of the leader of the opposition has research assistants and resources to help gather information and help parliament in carrying out its oversight function.
