Botswana is democracy deficient - experts

A recent report by a group of political scientists casts a negative light over the quality of Botswana's democratic dispensation.

The report, part of the renowned Democracy Index series run by South Africa-based Institute for Democracy in Southern Africa (IDASA), provides an in-depth analysis of the state of democracy in Botswana. While Botswana is recognised for its working multi-party democratic system and high performance across various governance indicators, the country is criticised for what the researchers call minimalist democracy.
