Botswana hosts IST Africa 2011

About 300 delegates from across Africa and Europe will arrive in the country today for the Information Technologies Africa 2011 (IST Africa 2011) conference.

Principal public relations officer at the Ministry of Infrastructure, Science and Technology, Christopher Nyanga said that the IST 2011 conference and exhibition series is bringing together senior representatives from leading commercial, government and research organisations to find ways of bridging the digital divide by sharing knowledge, experience and discussing Information Communication Technology (ICT) policy related issues.

"Participants will include senior and middle managers, professors and graduate students, projects managers, software engineers and researchers of various scientific and technological persuasions," said Nyanga. About 200 individuals and organisations are expected to attend the conference, the first of its kind to be hosted by Botswana. It will end on Friday.
