Botswana-Havard HIV lab awarded SANAS accreditation

The Botswana-Havard HIV Reference Laboratory has been awarded ISO 17O25:2005 certificate of excellence by the South African National Accreditation System (SANAS).

The laboratory got the recognition after showing improvement in effective diagnosis and management of diseases as well as accurate, reliable and timely lab results, among others. The Havard laboratory was formed through partnership between the Botswana government and Havard medical school and opened its doors in Gaborone in 2001.

Speaking at the official handing of the certificate, the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Health, Kolaatamo Malefho, said it was through the supportive environment at Central Government level that obtaining the certificate was possible.
