Botswana expels 17 Asian meat dealers

MAUN: Police Commissioner Edwin Batshu has disclosed that 17 butchery owners of Asian origin were recently expelled from Botswana "after being found dealing in stolen beasts".

Addressing a Kgotla meeting here on Wednesday, the police chief also revealed that 271 people have died through the so-called "passion-kilings" from 2003 to date, saying of the total 29 committed suicide after killing their partners.

Batshu said 12 of the murders have taken place this year, advising that the only way to curb passion-killings "is for the couples to desist from promiscuity and adultery".
