The congress will also make a determination on the way forward regarding teachers' involvement in the invigilation, marking and other duties related with external examinations for students.  This comes in the wake of a court decision that ruled that duties like invigilation and marking of examinations fall outside the normal duties of a teacher and that "as a union we have the right to negotiate for pay and better conditions with the Botswana Examination Council (BEC).
