Border jumpers a security threat - Seretse

Botswana should tighten its immigration and labour laws to guard against criminal elements coming into the country as illegal immigrants, it has been said.

Contributing to a Labour and Home Affairs budget proposal last Thursday, the Member of Parliament for Serowe North East, Ramadeluka Seretse, said because Botswana has the promise of a better life, everyone wants to the country.

Seretse urged government to be vigilant because some of the illegal immigrants coming through are a potential threat to Botswana's security.  "It is not good because we don't know how many illegal immigrants we have here and what they are doing," he said.
