Bolus system facing constraints - Tshireletso

The Ministry of Agriculture has acknowledged that the bolus system is facing several constraints throughout the country The challenges range from logistical problems, shortage of bolus to other technical and transport problems.

Assistant Minister of Local Government and Rural Development Botlhogile Tshireletso revealed this when answering a question on behalf of the Minister of Agriculture Christian De Graaff at Ntlo ya Dikgosi recently.Tshireletso said although it is difficult to predict when the problems will be resolved, the Ministry of Agriculture (MoA) is undertaking several initiatives to address the constraints."Some of these constraints include a switch to the ear-based system whose implementation has commenced.

The project started with a pilot in South-East district in June this year. As most of the teething problems are resolved, the project will be rapidly rolled out to the rest of the country," she explained.She said MoA is in the process of procuring 500,000 boluses, which it anticipates will be delivered by the end of July.She said it will go a long way towards addressing the shortage of bolus, even in Ghanzi South.
