Boitekanelo College has introduced a new unit to its faculties which focuses on providing healthcare professionals in the industry with in service training for career development.

The unit was launched last week Wednesday at the institution’s Tlokweng campus. Montshiwa explained that the programme entails short courses that range from people management, strategic leadership, effective communication, occupational health and safety to clinical up-skilling. She also said COVID-19 has exposed the need for strategic leadership especially in the healthcare sector.

“Nurses, who were at the frontline of the fight against the pandemic were severely exposed. Doctors and nurses are technically trained professionals, but with no management skills, so the programme would expose them to management, skills, clinical side as well as education and training,” she said. “We are giving organisations the opportunity to give themselves a competitive edge through short courses. So it is also an initiative for you to up skill yourself themselves, to become an employer of choice, more strategic high productivity and increased revenue especially for private clinics that need to bring in efficiency in their operations,” she further said.
