Botswana Federation of Public Sectors Unions (BOFEPUSU) yesterday gave the opposition Umbrella Project a boost when they declared at the BNF's Mahalapye Congress that they are backing the Umbrella.

BOFEPUSU labour secretary Johnson Motshwarakgole addressed  the BNF congress as head of delegation sent there by BOFEPUSU. Yesterday Motshwarakgole emphasised to The Monitor that what he said at the BNF congress was not his personal view but rather the position of BOFEPUSU. "In fact before  we came here(for the BNF Congress) BOFEPUSU Executive met and formulated  a position that my delegation was sent to present", Motshwarakgole explained during a cellphone interview.

He said he led a delegation made up of  the representatives of the five unions that  make up BOFEPUSU, namely, BOSETU( secondary school teachers), BLLAHWU (Land Board & Local Government), Manual Workers, Botswana Teachers Union (BTU), Botswana Public Employees Union (BOPEU)."Umbrella ke yone tsela ya nnete, ke position ya BOFEPUSU, eseng nna, gore diphathi tsa kganetso di tshwaragane, di lebagane le ya Domi. Re dumela gore Batswana botlhe ba batla jalo" (the Umbrella is the only way forward, this is BOFEPUSU's position, not my personal view; We believe that the opposition ought to come together and face the BDP as a united force; we also believe that Batswana as a whole are yearning for a united opposition", Motshwarakgole said from the Mahalapye congress, yesterday.
