FRANCISTOWN: A Botswana Federation of Public Sector Unions (BOFEPUSU) official has informed the Botswana Congress Party (BCP) rally, that despite a court ruling giving essential workers an ultimatum to return to work or risk dismissal, they (the workers and the union) have won a reprieve on this judgement after an appeal.

The rally was held at Coloured Stands in Francistown last Sunday. Thatayaone Xabue, the union's chairperson in the Francistown region said, "What it means is that hospitals, clinics and other essential services will continue to do without doctors, nurses and other workers until the ruling on our appeal in July."

Calling President Ian Khama a "hypocrite" and a "seganka (bully)", Xabue said they have now realised that their fight is with the "dictatorial" Khama and his Botswana Democratic Party (BDP) instead of the Department of Public Service Management (DPSM).
