BNFYL Anniversary

The Botswana National Front Youth League (BNFYL) is planning a three-day celebration to commemorate their 25th anniversary later this year.

The celebrations are expected to take place starting May 31st until June 2nd, BNFYL secretary-general Arafat Khan said at a press conference yesterday. Though still tight-lipped with details, Khan said the BNFYL will next month host a cake-cutting event to kick-start the celebrations and announce the guest speaker for the anniversary events. Although he did not want to disclose the names of the guest speaker, Khan assured journalists yesterday that the speaker is a youth political activist celebrated continent-wide.

In addition to their anniversary celebrations, the BNFYL will this year review their Constitution, with the review expected to take place at their elective congress scheduled to take place towards the end of the first quarter of 2013. Acting president of the BNFYL Tona Selala said yesterday that one of the areas they seek to review in the Constitution is the reduction of cut-off age for members of the league from 39 to 35.
