BNF Plans Fresh Maun East Primary Elections

The opposition Botswana National Front (BNF) will call for a re-run of the parliamentary primary elections in Maun East after the death of its candidate, Lazenby Wright.

Wright, who won the party's parliamentary primary elections for the constituency died this month.  Besides politics, Wright was also a prominent Maun businessman and a well-known figure. He was renowned for running a popular Maun bar called Mogobe.  Wright was also a colourful character.

At some stage, Wright defected to the Botswana Democratic Party (BDP) but later decamped to the BNF.  When asked about his defection to the BDP, he claimed that "ke ne ke ile go tsaya ditlholwa" (I had gone to spy on the ruling party).
