BNF petitions against school fees

SELEBI PHIKWE: The Botswana National Front (BNF) in Selebi-Phikwe, Mmadinare and Bobirwa region will next week hand a petition to Selibe Phikwe District Officer, Khumo Keeng to call for the abolition of school fees.

At the press conference the party addressed early this week, the party's Publicity Secretary, Moeti Mohwasa, said free and compulsory education in the country has always been the BNF's policy and stressed that statistics have shown that enrollment drops when school fees is introduced.

 
"We view education as a human right that no one should be deprived of. When it started, we indicated as the BNF that we were strongly against it but many people did not understand it because they were given the wrong assurances".
