BNF is dying - BCP activist

A Botswana Congress Party (BCP) activist, Phagenyana Phage has urged the Botswana National Front (BNF) followers to join his party. The BCP man said the BNF is slowly fading. Speaking at a BCP rally on Sunday afternoon in Gaborone West, Phage dismissed talk in the BNF that the party would rejoin the opposition negotiations if Otsweletse Moupo is re-elected president. He said this cannot be possible because the party congress and elections will be a disaster.

"The BNF congress is going to be another world war," he said. To the crowd's amusement, Phage revealed that people in Molepolole are on high extra alert as police, soldiers and prison guards have already been told about the congress. "Many are anticipating not only the formation of a new party but a bloody war," he said.

Phage lashed out at the BNF publicity secretary Moeti Moahaswa for telling untruths that the party would emerge from the congress as a solid unit. "All factions are well positioned and the news we gather around is that after the Moupo faction wins, they will fire (Kathleen) Letshabo (current BNF vice-president). BNF is dead and I will be going to Molepolole to bear witness," said Phage.
