BNF ignores legal opinion on congress?

The Botswana National Front (BNF) has reportedly ignored a legal opinion it sought to determine whether it should hold a congress or a conference in July.

It is understood that lawyer Oduetse Langwane submitted a report to the BNF two weeks ago to hold a congress and not a conference as the party leadership insists. However, even after receiving the recommendation, the BNF top brass has reiterated that the party will hold a conference.

Though he did not say whether he recommended a congress or a conference, Langwane confirmed to Mmegi that he was approached by the BNF to give an opinion on the 'constitutional crisis' facing the party.
