BNF heavyweights in war of words

Botswana National Front (BNF) secretary general, Mahommed Khan has labelled his predecessor, Gaborone South MP, Akanyang Magama "a liar and a politician bent on abusing the country's court process by dragging his party to court".

Last month, Magama filed a legal suit before the Lobatse High Court demanding that he be declared the BNF's parliamentary candidate to represent the party in Gaborone South at the general election in 2009.

Magama's query with the BNF follows a ruling by the party's appeals committee nullifying Magma's victory against his challenger, Tebogo Sebego, in the BNF's primaries at Gaborone South and ordering that there be a re-run of the elections.
