BNF blocks Kanjabanga from primary elections

The Botswana National Front (BNF) has barred its former youth leader, Gabriel Kanjabanga from contesting the Gaborone North constituency. The Gaborone lawyer has said he received a letter to this effect from the BNF.

The primaries that should have seen the Gaborone lawyer coming up against Lemogang Ntime were scheduled for last Saturday but were called off.

The vetting of Kanjabanga means that the BNF will field Ntime as is its parliamentary candidate for the constituency, if things go according to plan. Kanjabanga was called by the party to appear for a disciplinary hearing last week but failed to turn up. The BNF primaries for Gaborone North were delayed because Kanjabanga took the party to court. He was protesting against the decision to allow Ntime to contest the primaries. However, his application was dismissed by court last month.
