SELEBI-PHIKWE: Salary negotiations between the Botswana Mine Workers Union (BMWU) and the BCL Mine have reached a dead end, the union's coordinator, Abel Buka has revealed.

He told Mmegi this week that the two parties went for mediation at the labour office but still could not agree on a salary raise for BCL workers. A meeting the union had with BCL Mine general manager, Daniel Mahupela, on Monday also failed to break the deadlock.

He explained that the way forward for the union is to consult their principals. The union wanted the mine to make a 12.5 percent salary increment across the board but the employer is prepared to increase salaries by five percent across the board.
