BMD youth tussle for positions

Former Botswana Movement for Democracy (BMD) spokesman, Winfred Rasina will this weekend lock horns with the former director of policy of the party's youth wing, Phenyo Segokgo, for the youth league presidency.

Segokgo revealed that his lobby list has Tlamelo Mokgatlhane (vice-president), Gabatsewe Nkgaswa (secretary-general), Maine Monwela (deputy-secretary general) and Kealeboga Ramogobjwa (treasurer general).

Rasina's lobby list has Maitumelo Mafoko (vice-president), Dimpho Mashaba (secretarygeneral) and Maina Monwela (deputy secretarygeneral), among others. Segokgo said he advocates for the empowerment of youth through encouraging them to stand for elections at local government and national assembly levels. He also said the BMD is not a radical movement, condemning Rasina's challenge to BMD vice-president Botsalo Ntuane to declare where his political allegiance lies between the BMD and the ruling Botswana Democratic Party (BDP).
