The Botswana Movement for Democracy (BMD) will hold its inaugural elective Youth Congress on May 26.

The event was initially planned for April but was postponed indefinitely after the party realised that it was not prepared.

Secretary General Gilbert Mangole said they wanted to be ready for the event that is expected to elect the youth committee. Mangole added that the policy congress was also scheduled for the same month. He said they realised that it was going to be physically straining and expensive to host the two events simultaneously.  The party has since resolved to combine the two events. Mangole said the policy assembly would look into policies and consider which ones can be implemented. He told Mmegi that preparations for the two events are going well.  A logistical team is currently based in Selebi-Phikwe to prepare for the event.
