The opposition unity talks have been put in jeopardy after the Botswana Movement for Democracy (BMD) laid claim to 27 constituencies, sources close to the talks have revealed.

During the talks the BMD is alleged to have demanded that it be allocated 27 constituencies, with all the three in Francistown, Boteti North and South all in Gaborone, except Gaborone Central, and a lot more in the southern part of the country, including Kweneng South, Letlhakeng East and West.

There are 57 constituencies at the moment and if the BMD gets to contest in 27 constituencies, then the other opposition partners will have to share the remaining 30 amongst themselves.
