Botswana Meat Commission (BMC) has advised farmers to start preparing for direct cattle purchase that it hopes to resume soon.

Corporate communications and public relations manager at BMC, Tiro Kganela, told The Monitor that BMC intends to resume its direct cattle purchase soon and will be buying compliant cattle only. "We will be buying directly from the supplier, or farmer and we will be buying only cattle that appear fit, carrying a lot of weight," he said.

Cattle Suppliers in Zone 10, 11,12 and 13 producing for the BMC Lobatse Abattoir have therefore been advised to start engaging veterinary services to check if their cattle have boluses with full ownership details to avoid disappointment at the buying points.
