BMC select committee yet to submit report

MMADINARE: A Kgotla meeting here has been informed that Parliament is still awaiting the findings of a three-man committee that was appointed by Cabinet last year to investigate factors contributing to the malfunction of Botswana Meat Commission (BMC).

This was revealed by Vice President and Mmadinare Member of Parliament, Ponatshego Kedikilwe who said the committee was expected to have submitted its findings to Parliament two months after its appointment.

He explained that the committee, led by former Ambassador to the United Nations Joseph Legwaila was also mandated to conduct a forensic audit into the BMC for the period from 2006 to date with the assistance of the Auditor General. He said government remains hopeful that the committee will come up with ways that will make BMC profitable to farmers again. Other members of the committee are Thuli Johnson and Gobona Mapitse.
