Binge drinking spree kills woman

What was supposed to be a fun night of binge drinking turned deadly, when a 37-year-old woman died after drinking spree gone horribly wrong.

The incident, which sent shock waves to the Botshabelo ward residents in Maun happened on New Year's day at around 4pm. According to the Police the woman was in the company of her ex-boyfriend and a couple of friends when they engaged on a binge drinking competition. Pre-liminary investigations have revealed that they were trying to see who can drink more than the other, unfortunately one of them died as a result.

When she collapsed, they thought she had blacked out from excessive alcohol consumption, little did they know their friend had died.

“After a couple of minutes, they tried to wake her up, but she did not move. They then informed the deceased brother and took her to the hospital where she was certified dead upon arrival,” confirmed Maun station Kgakgamatso Koboyatshwene.


According to the Police boss, Maun Police are currently looking for the deceased ex-boyfriend . They say they have been unable to locate him since the incident.
