Relating the incident to The Monitor, a distraught Tina Puskas, owner of the trophies and the lodge, said the officers took her gemsbok, kudu and eland trophy heads as well as a Zebra's skin.Puskas related that she did not have permits for some of the trophies as she received them as gifts when her lodge opened eight years ago. She said at one point she sought to be given more time to look for the people who gave her the trophies, so as to get the required permits."But they did not want to listen to me, they simply came and took down the trophies in front of our clients. At one point they even took a crocodile sculpture thinking it was also a trophy.
They returned it from their van after realising that it was wooden material," she said.
Puskas also complained that the police officers were discourteous with her and her staff as they refused even to identify themselves by names and worse, did not even bother to take statements."Right now I don't know who is in possession of my trophies or where they are being kept," she said.The Monitor team followed the government Land Rover that was carrying the trophies to Mogoditshane Police Station where a male sergeant who refused to identify himself, a special constable and two officers said to be from the wildlife department, occupied an empty office and wrote down some statements.
