BIAC To Phase Out Long Courses

The principal of the Botswana Institute of Accountancy College (BIAC), Peter Choto has denied allegations that they will soon be phasing out long courses.

"A decision has not yet been made. We are still discussing and consulting on what to do," he said. Reports say that the government, through the Directorate of Public Service Management (DPSM), is on the verge of stopping long causes in favour of the new focus on short ones. A BIAC lecturer, speaking on condition of anonymity, indicated that on Monday last week, the committee on the phasing-out of long courses set up by DPSM presented its first report, which recommended the retention of some courses. He stated that the criterion used was that courses offered by private sector institutions should be discontinued.

He explained that the DPSM rejected the recommendations and instructed the committee to reduce the courses that should be retained.
