BFTU affiliates on the verge of joining BOFEPUSU

Less than a month after the Botswana Federation of Public Sector Unions (BOFEPUSU) opened up its membership to parastatals and private sector unions, two labour movements from its arch-rival, the Botswana Federation of Trade Unions (BFTU) are alleged to be jumping ship.

Botswana Mining Workers Union (BMWU) and the Botswana Hotel Travel and Tourism Workers Union (BHTTWU) are technically suspended from BFTU as they have defaulted on subscriptions for months now.

The BMWU has not paid for 12 months now and its dues stand at P789, 000 while it has been more than three months since BHTTWU paid its dues.
