Making the announcement at a media briefing yesterday in Gaborone, executive secretary of the BEC Dr. Serara Moahi, said that the awards serve to identify and recognise exceptional performance in national examinations as well as to showcase and celebrate the individual achiever's talent.

Ten students will be awarded for their top performance in their Primary School Leaving Examinations (PSLE), as well as two PSLE top performers with special needs.  The same goes for Junior Certificate examinations as well as Botswana General Certificate in Secondary Education.
