BEC faces crisis after court ruling?

The Botswana Examinations Council (BEC) might experience major crises when teachers boycott invigilating of Primary School Leaving Examinations, which started yesterday after the High Court declared that invigilating is not part of their duties.

This comes a week before the Junior Certificate and the Botswana General Certificate in Secondary Education are due to start.

Botswana Secondary Teachers Union (BOSETU) has revealed that no teacher will be persuaded to invigilate the external national examinations but they  are willing to negotiate the rates with the BEC.
