Organisers of the Miss Humanity International Botswana on Friday refused to comment after the reigning 2012 queen, Mshingo Kristen Sithelo allegedly attempted suicide last week by ingesting a concoction of pills following a misunderstanding with Humanity International Botswana organisers.

Isaac Israel, who is now in charge of the pageant, on Friday refused to comment when The Monitor sought further information from him on why they made the decision to  prevent their queen from going to compete in Barbados. In a tele-conversation, Israel said he was not accountable to The Monitor and instead felt he is accountable to the queen's parents.

The previous day he refused to shed light on the progress of preparations for the Miss Humanity International and instead blamed The Monitor for lack of support. He promised he would arrange for the Monitor to interview the pageant spokeswoman, but the next morning Israel said they were no longer interested in discussing their progress. But The  Monitor pressed on asking them why they decided to withdraw their queen from the Barbados trip and also asked him if he is aware that their decision led to the queen's attempted suicide.
