BDP's financiers paraded

It is not everyday that the ruling Botswana democratic Party (BDP) publicises its list of financiers, all of whom have remained a mystery for decades, but on Friday night the ruling party gathered its business partners to raise funds for next year's 50th anniversary as well as for the forthcoming 2014 elections.

All in all the BDP raised P947,000 from the dinner graced by South African musical couple Caiphus Semenya and Letta Mbulu. Forty tables were sold for P400,000 while a further P547,000 was raised  in pledges by the party's supporters.

Names were called, money was splashed, and a clear view of who is who in the BDP's money puzzle started to emerge.
