BDP Will Give Us Development - Residents

TAKATOKWANE: Some residents of Takatokwane in Letlhakeng West constituency say they expect developments to arrive soon after they elected an MP who will be favoured by government.

The ruling Botswana Democratic Party (BDP) snatched the Letlhakeng West constituency from the opposition Botswana National Front (BNF) over the weekend when Maxwell Motowane narrowly ousted Filbert Nagafela.  At the end of the counting, only 33 votes separated the two contestants. Motowane polled 3,826 votes against Nagafela's 3,792.

"We in this region have been discriminated against for voting for the opposition now we thought we should switch and see if we could be like other constituencies," says Dipogiso Kaolatola a 27-year-old unemployed man.
